With several tennis favorites out of the picture let’s take a look at the Wimbledon 2011 results for June 29. The United Kingdom’s own Andy Murray, has defeated Feliciano Lopez from Spain in three straight sets winning 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4. One of the biggest favorites, Rafael Nadal is taking on Mardy Fish who won the 3rd set 7-5 against Nadal to play on more sets. Nadal won the first 2 sets 6-3 and 6-3, he also just won the match by winning the 4th set 6-4.
One of the biggest upsets of the 2011 Wimbledon results also happened today with Roger Federer losing to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Federer won the first 2 sets 6-3 and 7-6, but then went on to lose 3 straight sets 6-4, 6-4 and 6-4. One might think that Federer was playing hurt but time will only tell. Tsonga was listed at odds of 64/1 to beat Federer so this is actually the biggest upset and biggest comeback of the tournament.
With Roger Federer out of the 2011 Wimbledon results Rafael Nadal has to be the current favorite to win on the gentleman’s side. Nadal will now move one step closer to the Championship Finals with one tennis match yet to play. Check back for the latest Wimbledon 2011 results leading up to Sunday’s final matches.
