Nokia has officially launched the Symbian Anna-based Nokia E6 and X7 smartphones in India, at a press conference in New Delhi yesterday. Nokia India had celebrities Gul Panag, Soha Ali Khan, Diandra Soares and Sagarika Ghatge as brand ambassadors, chosen to represent "Anna with their grace, style & elegance.” For more details about the improvements in Symbian Anna as an update to Symbian^3, check out our previous coverage of the new features.
The Nokia E6 business Touch & Type phone was listed for pre-order on the Nokia India site back on June 15th, and is now on shelves at a price of Rs. 18,679 (MRP), though it should already be retailing for a little less than that. Boasting a 2.46-inch capacitive touchscreen with a surprisingly high resolution of 640x480 pixels, the E6 comes with the E-series QWERTY keypad, 8GB of built in storage, a 600MHz ARM11 processor and graphics accelerator, an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash, USB-on-the-Go support, 3G/Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity, a document editor, as well as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Communicator Mobile and Microsoft SharePoint support.
The Nokia X7 entertainment phone has been priced at Rs. 22,829 (MRP). Bearing a 4-inch Nokia ClearBlack Display, the capacitive touchscreen phone has an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash as well. The X7-00 is certainly a good looking device, with a slim, sharply angled body that is built out of stainless steel body. It sports the same CPU-GPU as the N8, with a 680MHz ARM11 processor and Broadcom BCM2727 graphics. Also featuring USB-on-the-Go support, the device has 3G/Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity as well.
Also announced at the event was the timeline for the Symbian Anna update being rolled out for older devices, like the N8, E7, C7, and C6-01, which is expected to be complete by the end of August.
