PAP has won Potong Pasir SMC with 7,973 votes, out of a total of 16,074 votes. It obtained 50.4 per cent of the votes. 242 votes were spoilt.
The PAP representative in Potong Pasir SMC is Sitoh Yih Pin.
The other party contesting Potong Pasir SMC was the Singapore People's Party, which fielded Lina Chiam. She is the wife of SPP leader Chiam See Tong.
She won 7,859, or 49.6 per cent, of the votes.
This seat was formerly held by Chiam See Tong, who contested under the Singapore Democratic Alliance. He won 55.8 per cent of the votes, beating the PAP's 44.2 per cent in the 2006 General Election.
In his victory speech, Sitoh Yih Pin thanked the Chiams for their past service to the residents of Potong Pasir and wished them all the best.
He also promised to fulfill 'every single promise' he made to the voters.
