THE Singapore Democrative Party (SDP) on Sunday announced its line-ups for the two GRCs it is contesting.
In its Sembawang GRC team are academics James Gomez, 46, and John Tan, 49, entrepreneur Jarrod Luo, 27, businessman Sadasivam Veriyah, 58, and business development manager Mohamed Isa Abdul Aziz, 53.
Contesting the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC are private investor and former senior government official Tan Jee Say, 57, Dr Vincent Wijeysingha, 40, a civil society activist, Dr Ang Yong Guan, 56, a psychiatrist and former army colonel and Ms Michelle Lee Juen, 35, a teacher at a private school.
Asked what the SDP team would do for the Holland Bukit Timah residents if they were voted in, the SDP team pledged to give up half of their MP's allowance to help set up a fund for the needy and for constituency work, and attend all Meet-the-People's Sessions.
The team also attacked the five-year upgrading programme for the GRC, saying residents there should get access to upgrading, regardless of whether they voted opposition or not.
'This is public money and you have the right to get the upgrading, and we will make sure that you do,' said SDP candidate Dr Ang.
