UNC

University of North Carolina point guard Leslie McDonald could miss most, if not all of the 2011-2012 season after suffering an ALC tear. The injury occurred on Thursday night during a Pro-Am game in Durham.
His father, Leslie McDonald, Sr., told CBS Sports that the injury looked “not good. Basketball is very important to him, but I told him his whole life isn’t basketball and he’s going to be OK.”
The six-foot-four guard played a key role off the bench for the Tar Heels, who made it all the way to the Elite Eight this past season. The soon to be junior averaged seven points per game while only playing in 15.7 minutes and was second on the team with 51 three-pointers made. Surgery has not yet been scheduled but is expected to happen soon.
North Carolina does return all five starters, but the loss will be a big blow to their bench in hopes to make another NCAA Tournament run.
