Sourav Ganguly
On Wednesday the West Bengal government had appointed Sourav Ganguly the vice-chairman of the reconstituted Sports Council.

Ganguly will work along with other marked Indian athletes from multiple fields like footballer Gouranga Banerjee and Compton Dutta,
Table Tennis star Poulami Ghatak and chess grandmaster Dibyendu Barua.

All these players are the part of the working commiitte that will help the government in creating a blue print of developing sports in the state.

Apart from the world of sports and administration, Ganguly will also be seen taking on current Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir on his game show ‘Ke Hobey Banglar Kotipati’, the Bengali version of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire', media reports said.

Sourav Ganguly has already put eminent celebrities like B-town actor Aamir Khan in the hot seat.

The brave Indian skipper is considered to be one of the finest batsman India has ever produced. Under his leadership the Indian side performed well on foreign soil especially in Australia, Pakistan and England.

He had also guided the a young Indian side to the World Cup final in 2003 at South Africa where they lost to Australia in the final.

He retired from all forms of the game in 2008 after the Test series against Australia at the home turf.

Besides a cricketer he will always be remembered as a man who fought to return to the Indian side over and over again despite being dropped from the team for questionable reasons.

His disputes with former Indian coach Greg Chappell will stay marked as one of the darkest phases in Indian cricket.

This year Ganguly made another comeback after he was dropped from he Kolkata Knight Riders team of Indian Premiere League as he played for Pune Warriors and struck a well crafted innings in the first match itself to lead the team to victory.
