The news from Comic-Con keeps on coming. Thursday, Robert Rodriguez revealed plans to make sequels for both “Sin City” and “Machete,” the AP reports.
Rodriguez confirmed that the script for “Sin City 2” is currently being finalized, and he’s looking forward to two sequels for “Machete,” one of which will take place in space. “Even if we don’t get to three, I’m at least making the trailer for three because it’s so good. I would put it even before part two,” Rodriguez announced. “Machete goes into space! It’s like ‘Moonraker.’”
The director’s most recent film, “Spy Kids 4,” is set for release next month in “4-D.” The fourth dimension, “smell-o-vision,” will come into play when a number flashes on the screen and audience members scratch and sniff a corresponding part of a card that comes with their tickets. “There’s sweet smells and bad smells,” Rodriguez explains, “because we have a baby and we have a dog, and it’s really fun.”
In addition to his cinematic work, Rodriguez also has three new partnerships to keep him busy, as he dabbles in video games, museums and computer hardware. When asked about the pressures of such a full workload, the 43-year-old director responded, “You get more done when you’re busy. It almost helps you focus on something more when you don’t have too much time to overthink it.”
