ONGC


Indian equity benchmarks recovered early trade losses amid volatility, supported by heavyweights like ITC, ONGC, Infosys, ICICI Bank, SBI and L&T. Even market breadth turned in favour of advances a bit.
Ambareesh Baliga, chief operating officer, Way2Wealth continues to hold that the Nifty will stay in a range. "More or less we would be in a range of 5,350-5,400 to 5,600-5,650. But for the next one week - we should head lower. In fact, I am looking at levels more close to 5,450-5,500," Baliga said.
The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 18,539, up 36 points and the 50-share NSE Nifty was flat at 5,567.
Reliance Industries, TCS, HDFC Bank, BHEL, NTPC and DLF were putting pressure on the market.
Crompton Greaves, Petronet LNG, TTK Healthcare, SBI, LIC Housing Finance and Exide Industries were most active shares on exchanges.
Midcaps like MindTree and Petronet LNG shot up 10% & 5%, respectively post strong numbers. SKS Microfinance gained 5% on short covering. Crompton Greaves gained 4% on short covering after about 30% fall in previous two days.
3M India and Page Industries were up 5%. However, Shree Global, Coromandel International, Infotech Enterprises and Amara Raja Batteries lost 2-5%. Biocon fell 5% on
In the smallcap space, Ruby Mills jumped 14%. Marathon Nextgen, Aptech, Sandur Manganes and Sterling Holiday were up 4-5%. However, Hinduja Foundries, Goodricke Group, Hinduja Global, Ingersoll Rand and R M Mohite lost 5-10%.
About 635 shares advanced against 521 shares declined on National Stock Exchange.
Sensex slip amid choppy trade; tech, capital goods down
The benchmark Sensex slipped moderately in the opening trade following weak Asian cues. Even theNifty was trying to get back above 5550 level. But overall market has been consolidating ahead of events like European Union Summit for debt crisis, further move on US debt rating and RBI policy to be held of July 26.
At 9:18 hours IST, 50-share NSE Nifty was trading at 5,545, down 22 points and the 30-share BSESensex fell 46 points to 18,456.
Reliance Industries, M&M, Maruti, Sesa Goa (2% down ahead of results), TCS, Bharti Airtel, Ranbaxy Labs, Dr Reddy's Labs (less-than-expected numbers yesterday), Wipro, L&T and Infosys were putting a bit pressure on the market.
However, HUL, ITC, ICICI Bank and ONGC were quite supportive.
The CNX Midcap rose 30 points to 8,078. About 335 shares advanced agianst 577 shares declined on National Stock Exchange.
Crompton Greaves fell nearly 2%. The stock had fallen about 30% in previous two days on bad set of numbers.
Exide tumbled 9% on disappointing results.
However, MindTree shot up 12% post strong Q1 numbers.
Petronet LNG went up 1.6% post 131.5% rise in Q1 net profit.
Xpro India surged 15%. Firstsource and 3i Infotech were up 0.5-1%.
SKS Microfinance moved up 5% on short covering.
Asian markets were trading lower. Shanghai and Kospi fell over 0.5%. Hang Seng, Nikkei, Taiwan and Straits Times were flat with negative bias.
The US equity market ended flat as markets keep on waiting for some resolution in Europe & US.
Berlin and Paris appeared to have reached agreement over a financial rescue package for Greece.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended down 15.5 points at 12,572. NASDAQ Composite was down 12 points at 2,814 and S&P 500 Index ended flat at 1,326.

September crude oil contract was up 0.5% to USD 98.4/barrel
August natural gas contract was down 0.6% at USD 4.51 per MMBtu
August gold contract fell 0.3% at USD 1597.70 per ounce
September silver contract declined 1.5% to USD 39.59 per ounce
