Cash Cab

clearpxlclearpxlA driver for the popular television quiz show "Cash Cab" struck and killed a 61-year-old Canadian man over the weekend. Police in Vancouver said the accident occurred shortly before midnight Saturday after the show had wrapped filming for the night.
The phony Yellow Taxi cab was being driven back to its storage area when a producer struck the man. Authorities haven’t released the victim's identity but revealed he died from his injuries at a hospital shortly thereafter.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his friends and his family.” said Andrew Burnstein, president of Castlewood Productions Inc., which produces the Canadian version of “Cash Cab.” “My heart also goes out to the driver of the vehicle, a member of our technical staff, who is shaken and devastated by this tragic accident, as is our entire team.”
No charges have been filed but the incident remains under investigation, Vancouver police said.
In the TV show, which airs on Discovery Channel, unsuspecting passengers who hail the taxi are quizzed during the ride to their destination for a chance to win money.
The U.S. version of “Cash Cab,” is filmed in New York and Chicago, and has been on the air since 2005.
