Cadillac

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently posted recall notices affecting a dozen General Motors Co. truck and SUVmodels, and a Kawasaki motorcycle popular with a range of riders from off-roaders to urban messengers and delivery workers.
GM said it is recalling 6,768 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon compact pickup trucks from the 2011 model year. The recall stems from a problem with some of the vehicles’ shift-lever mechanisms that can indicate the transmission is in “park” when it isn’t.
The car maker said the trucks may have been built with an automatic transmission adjustment clip that may not retain the shift cable in the proper position. If the shift cable is in the wrong position, the shift lever may not accurately display the position of the transmission’s gears. As a result, the driver may not be able to restart the truck, and it could roll away because it its transmission isn’t locked in the “park” position.
Under the recall, GM dealers will install a new transmission adjustment clip free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on or about July 19. Owners can contact Chevrolet at 800-630-2438 and GMC at 866-996-9463.
Seperately GM is also recalling certain 2001 models of the Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado HD, Silverado light-duty, Suburban and Tahoe, and GMC Sierra HD and light-duty pickups and Yukon and Yukon XL. The vehicles’ intermediate steering shaft attaching bolts may not have been properly tightened.
The loose bolts could allow the joints to separate. If this happens the driver could lose steering control, which increases the risk of a crash.
Under the recall, which affects 739 vehicles, dealers will inspect the intermediate steering shaft bolts to make sure they are tight enough. The recall is to begin on or about July 13. Owners may contact Cadillac at 800-458-8006, Chevy at 800-630-2438 and GMC at 1-866-996-9463.
Motorcycle maker Kawasaki is recalling about 9,460 KLX250 bikes because cracks can form that allow fuel leak out, increasing the risk of fire.
Under the recall dealers will inspect the fuel tanks and fix them if necessary. Customers can also call Kawasaki at 866-802-9381.
