Armenia is seeing the sixth Fête de la Musique today, June 21, with live music being played in Yerevan and provinces continuously for 12 hours.
The festival held upon the initiative of the Ministry of Culture of France originated in 1982 and today is considered to be the biggest music event in the world that is staged in 430 cities in more than 110 countries of the world.
The main goal of the festival is to make musical experience available to all, enable all generations to have the experience of various manifestations of music as well as give a chance to professional and non-professional performers to display their skills through improvised concerts.
In Armenia Fête de la Musique is marked upon the initiative of the French Embassy and the Ministry of Culture of Armenia. Orange Armenia, a mobile operator company, is the general sponsor of the festival for the second time. The Yerevan Municipality and the Gafesjian Center for Arts are also partners of Fête de la Musique.
