The registration for the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore race may only open on Thursday morning, but many enthusiasts have begun showing up on Wednesday, at the walk-in registration site at Raffles Place.
Channel NewsAsia understands more than a hundred eager participants were at the site by Wednesday evening.
Marathon runner Roshan Bedapakaran said: "I came here at 7pm but my girlfriend has been here since 11 in the morning, looking after the place for me.
"I am hoping it's not going to rain".
Another marathon runner Jemaine Goh said: "I am here with my family, my sister and my brother-in-law, and there are some others at home who are coming in the morning".
The annual sporting event features various categories including the full 42.195km marathon, the 21km half marathon and the 5km fun run.
Organisers of the marathon are targeting about 70,000 runners this year, up from last year's 60,000.
Online and walk-in registration begins June 23 at 11am, and ends September 30, 2011.
