Hours before confirmation of MNS MLA Ramesh Wanjale’s death, confusion prevailed among people and political leaders who rushed to Jehangir Hospital, as there was no official word.
Till about 11.30 at night, crowds increased. There was speculation that Wanjale was no more, but the authorities at Jehangir Hospital gave no confirmation. All eight MNS corporators along with Ranjit Shirole were present at the hospital but they presented different versions. A team of about 60 policemen, four senior PIs and an ACP was deployed to keep the crowd under control. The crowd and even some patients were not allowed to enter the hospital. Shiv Sena MLA Neelam Gorhe, Congress city chief Abhay Chhajed, mayor Mohansingh Rajpal, and Congress MLA Ramesh Bagwe were among those present. Even at 11.35 pm, when the body was being taken out of the hospital, MNS activists kept saying he was under treatment and should be fine.
