Rain In Mumbai


Heavy rains continued to lash the city for the third consecutive day today, causing water-logging and disrupting rail and road services.
According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Disaster Management Cell, Colaba recorded 95.6mm and suburban Santacruz 166.6mm of rainfall from 8.30am to 5.30pm today.
Complaints of water logging were reported from large number of suburban areas like Hindmata, Bycualla, Worli, Mahim, Parel, Sion, Dharavi, Andheri, Goregaon, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli and Bhandup among others, civic officials said.
Train services were running late by at least 30 minutes on the Central line and by 15-20 minutes on Western railway.
The visibility at the airport was 1100 metres and incoming flights were delayed by 15 minutes and departures by 10 minutes due to the rains. A non-schedule flight from Hyderabad had to do a go around. There were no cancellations or diversions due to rains, a Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) spokesperson said.
Eight incidents of wall-collapse and about 100 incidents of tree-falling were were reported from different parts of city.
The weather bureau has forecast occasional spells of rain or showers in parts of city and suburbs while heavy rains would occur in some areas.
