NHL Trade Rumors

The Detroit Red Wings have made an offer to Jaromir Jagr, the Detroit Free Press reports. Jagr could also very well end up with the Penguins, who have been connected to the winger more and more over the past few weeks.
Representative Petr Svoboda is in the Czech Republic with Jagr, who is deciding whether to return to the NHL after three seasons in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League. A decision could come today, but the Wings are prepared to wait.
"For us, we need to know by July 1," Holland said shortly before attending the NHL awards at the Pearl Theater at the Palms. "I don't know if he decides to go to Russia. We know what we're prepared to do."
It looks like we're edging closer to reaching some sort of finality with regard to Jagr - we'll probably know fairly soon whether he'll sign with the Red Wings or Penguins, or return to Russia. The Pens would, it appears, be lucky to have him, since he'd help out immediately on the power play and at wing. A lot of Pens fans will be disappointed if he signs with Detroit.
