Washington Nationals top prospect Bryce Harper continues to add to his legend. The phenom who once graced the cover of Sports Illustrated at the age of 16 is currently hitting .342 with 14 home runs and 42 RBI down in Single-A. For all intents and purposes, he is living up to the hype.
Unfortunately for Harper, not all the attention he's getting these days is positive. In case you missed it, he committed the cardinal sin of showing up a pitcher after a home run on Monday. First he admired the ball after he hit it, and then he stuck his tongue out at the pitcher as he rounded the bases.
Needless to say, crap like that is not going to fly when Harper makes it to the show. If he doesn't grow up, he better get used to getting beaned.
Former major league star Lenny Dykstra could probably give Harper some advice about that, but he's got problems of his own at the moment. Already in hot water with the government for embezzlement and other crimes, Dykstra was jailed on Monday on 25 misdemeanor and felony charges, including grand theft auto. He faces up to 12 years in prison if he is convicted.
In the basketball world, LeBron James and the Miami Heat are gearing up for Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks tonight. The Heat took Game 3 on the strength of a late jumper by Chris Bosh, but the only thing people seem interested in talking about is the fact that LeBron seems to be "shrinking" when it matters most. If he keeps that up, he won't be winning the Finals MVP, which many think would be a great travesty.
