The 35-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jeffery Atkins, turned himself in at a New York City courtroom on Wednesday, reports E! News.
“I'm gonna try to make good of my time while I'm inside," he recently told TMZ about writing a book, earning a GED and possibly taking up the guitar.
Dressed in a grey sweat suit, the rapper yelled out “see y’all later” to fans and family as he was handcuffed and escorted out of the courtroom by police officials.
In the crowd of support, wife Aisha, his mother and his mother-in-law called out, “Love you!”
“Love you, too,” the rapper replied.
Last December, Rule plead guilty to attempted criminal weapon possession after police found a gun in his car in 2007.
The police report says the rapper’s Maybach sports car was pulled over by police for speeding. But when they found a loaded, unregistered semiautomatic gun in a rear door, he was arrested.
Before heading to the courthouse, Rule spent the last days of his freedom finishing up on his next album, “Pain Is Love 2,” which is reported to be released in July or August.
TMZ also reported that the busy rapper even shot three music videos for the tracks of his new album.
But Rule could be heading back to jail as quickly after he is released.
The rapper, who has also appeared in films like ‘The Fast and the Furious,” “Scary Movie 3” and “Shall We Dance,” could face a federal prison sentence for failing to pay taxes on more than $3 million in income, which he also plead guilty to those charges in March.
Rule could be released in as little as 18 months for good behaviour.
