HUDA

Chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has taken Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) officials to task for not responding to public grievances. In a recent meeting with senior HUDA officials, the CM gave them a piece of his mind on their lack of discipline.
"The CM has given a clear instruction that HUDA officials must be available in their offices for hearing of public grievances from 11.00 am to noon and 4.00pm to 5.00pm every day," said a senior HUDA official who did not want to be named.
Apart from having a firm word with the officials, the chief minister also cited some instances where HUDA officials didn't even respond to the calls of MLAs and MPs. Soon after Hooda's instructions, a detailed note was sent to all offices of development authority from the office of chief secretary.
The note says that all letters received from people's representatives should be replied to within 15 days. Hooda also said that cases of officials coming late to their offices and being unavailable for public grievances would not be tolerated.
However, when asked about the recent notice, HUDA chief administrator DPS Nangal played it down. "These instructions are part of the routine. They are passed on to ensure that grievances of the general public are heard," he said.
The chief minister also instructed that HUDA should develop a single-window clearance system at its district-level offices. There should be a check-list in place for submission of various applications in the estate office.
Residents have welcomed the proposal of single-window clearance system at the estate office. But they were sceptical about the implementation of this system. "If HUDA officials fail to follow the deadline assigned for each type of work, the single-window system will not help," said R L Jain, a resident.
