THE c2c rail service between Upminster andPitsea was closed between 10am and 12.50pm on Monday because of problems with a signal in the Upminster area. The line has now been reopened but minor delays continued for several hours as the operator tried to clear the earlier backlog. The c2c service operates between London Fenchurch Street andShoebury.
The scorching weather also forced rail bosses to put a speed restriction on trains travelling between Southend and London Liverpool Street.
Passengers face delays because the design of overhead line equipment meaning speed restrictions need to be in place in hot temperatures.
National Express East Anglia says it intends to operate a full evening peak service.
