Congratulations to new parents Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon who welcomed twins - a boy and a girl - on Saturday. According to the Associated Press, Mariah gave birth at 12:07 p.m. at an undisclosed location in Los Angeles. The Cannon's bundle of joy come at the same time as the couples fourth wedding anniversary.
Nick Cannon shared his excitement over the news on his Twitter page.
"My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life!" Cannon wrote. "I won't ever be able to top this!"
Back in February Mariah broke the news that she was expecting twin babies.
"Even before we announced it was twins, I was trying to keep everything gender-neutral, because I didn't want to impose an identity on them too soon," Mariah told Life & Style magazine. "There were fan contests on Twitter about what gender they are and rumors about them being two boys or two girls — but nobody guessed this!"
Friends couldn't be happier for the duo, including one who tells the mag: "It's all about pink and blue these days. It's truly going to be a dream come true for them. They get a son and daughter." The magazine reports that the couple's twin babies are expected sometime in April.
Despite trying to keep details about the pregnancy as private as possible, Cannon admitted in December that the couple were expecting twins. He explained that the pop powerhouse let the news slip during a conversation with the president and first lady backstage at TNT's "Christmas in Washington 2010."
