MINISTER Mah Bow Tan led his five-member People's Action Party (PAP) to a victory in Tampines GRC - but at a lower vote margin than the previous election in 2006.
The PAP team secured 57.2 per cent of the 137,532 votes, trouncing their challengers from the National Solidarity Party, which took 54,337 votes (42.8 per cent).
Mr Mah's team won by a majority of 14.4 per cent, lower than in the 2006 election, when it beat the Singapore Democratic Alliance opponents with 68.5 per cent.
In Mr Mah's team are Minister of State Masagos Zulkifli, Ms Irene Ng, Mr Heng Swee Keat and Mr Baey Yam Keng.
The NSP slate led by Mr Goh Meng Seng, included Mr Syafarin Sarif, Mr Raymond Lim, Mr Gilbert Goh and Mr Reno Fong.
The opposition team realised it was losing ground to the PAP when counting was underway at about 10.30pm.
