It was established in 1993 by decision of the UN General Assembly. There were almost 2,7 million families in Belarus according to the population census of 2009. Almost half of them bring up children under 18 years old. There are 63,000 families with many children in the country. They are provided with a number of benefits: land tax remission, tax deductions, the right to be included into the housing lists out-of-turn and the receiving of preferential loans, help in debt redemption, the payment for preschool is lowered by half.
