Chelsea Handler |
The comedienne and host of E!'s "Chelsea Lately" is releasing a new book, her fourth, tomorrow called "Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me." In it, her pals and family members each take a turn writing about how she's humiliated them over the years.
"It was a nice way for me to put out another book," Handler, who last year scored another three-book deal, told Matt Lauer on "Today" Monday.
Amongst her "lies": Handler told a boyfriend about a fake dog funeral, convinced a coworker to come home early from his honeymoon by telling him he would be featured in Time magazine and as a child sold fake raffle tickets to meet Carly Simon.
When Lauer asked if any of her "victims" were getting paid for their work in the book, Handler deadpanned: "They all got paid, big time. You're a practical joker, too."
Now that her practical joker ways are out in the open, Handler says it may be time to give it up.
"Everyone's onto me. Everyone assumes everything I say is a lie now."
"Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me" is the first of three books that Handler will be releasing under her own imprint for Hachette's Grand Central Publishing, Borderline Amazing/A Chelsea Handler Book.
