The family of a Cedar Rapids man has not heard from him for two weeks and has filed a missing person report with police.
Christopher T. Fischels, 33, was last seen May 9 when he took his ex-girlfriend’s daughter to Mercy Medical Center, according to the report. Fischels’ brother said he last heard from him when they spoke on the phone on May 13.
“There’s no reason to believe that he’s in danger,” police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said. “It’s just unusual that nobody has heard from him for this long.”
Police checked at least two Cedar Rapids residences where Fischels might have been staying, but he has not been located. No information about his possible whereabouts was listed in the report, Hamblin said.
According to court records, Fischels was in jail last month after he was charged with domestic assault. He posted bond and was released on May 4.
As is policy with all missing persons, Fischels’ name has been entered into a law enforcement database, so any officer that may come into contact with him realizes that he is considered a missing person.
