Sony Tablet

Sony unveiled its new tablet lineup at a media briefing in Tokyo Tuesday.

Sony Corp. unveiled two tablet computers, the S1 and S2, during a briefing with reporters and technology-industry officials Tuesday.

The electronics giant is a latecomer to the fast-growing tablet market, dominated by Apple Inc.’s iPad. Sony had previously said it aimed to be the No. 2 tablet maker by 2012, but until Tuesday had yet to offer any indication about how its lineup would differ from those already available in the increasingly crowded segment.

Kunimasa Suzuki, deputy president of Sony’s consumer products and services group, hosted the briefing. The Wall Street Journal’s Daisuke Wakabayashi and Yoree Koh live-blogged the event.
