Parades of pooches, with their owners in tow, made their way through the doors at the grand opening of PetSmart on College Drive Saturday.
Mayor Linda T. Johnson assisted in the ribbon cutting that officially marked the opening of the area’s 10th PetSmart location at 6243 College Drive.
“We love seeing this area grow,” Johnson said. “And PetSmart is a part of that.”
The grand opening featured coupons, giveaways, prizes and raffles, with the first 50 customers receiving gift cards with amounts ranging from $5 to $50.
Guests could enter to win pet food for a year, gift cards, grooming for a year or one training class.
Store manager Glenn Ellis said he hopes the store will help the community care for its pets as well as save pets’ lives.
“Our main goal is to provide total lifetime care — every patient, every pet, every time,” he said.
The 12,000-square-foot store features a grooming center, a cat adoption center that is open every day and pet training. It also has select.
