Former India batsman Jacob Martin was arrested in the national capital on Tuesday night in connection with a 2003 human-trafficking case.
Martin, an Indian Railways batsman who featured in 10 ODIs, was arrested from the trans-Yamuna area of Delhi.
In the FIR, Martin has been booked under sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery) and 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
He was produced in the Dwarka court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Rajesh Kumar Goyal on Wednesday and sent to eight days of police custody.
Earlier, his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the Supreme Court and a reward of Rs.25,000 announced by Delhi police for a clue to his whereabouts.
Martin's involvement in the illegal immigration racket came to light when one Nimesh Kumar Patel, carrying a fake passport revealed that Martin, along with one Rajender Bhiku Bhai Patel and Janak Lal Bhogi Raj Pancholi, arranged a journey to England in 2004 for Rs.7 lakh.
Patel, was deported to India by the British authorities on December, 11, 2004, also alleged that Martin was the main beneficiary of the racket.
