Ramos received a PhD in anthropology in 2000 from Emory University and is currently an associate professor of education and anthropology and gender at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Reddy and produced on the ground in the town of hijras in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh in India. Current research on gay male identity among immigrants from South Asia to the United States.
