Maya Moore

If Maya Moore's name means nothing to you yesterday, welcome to the club. In a world where girls have role models like Taylor Swift (roll eyes) Miley Cyrus (tremor), and Sarah Palin (crouched in a corner, crying), Moore took the team leader at the University of Connecticut women's basketball 89th Consecutive victory for the name of this pop star on our radar at last.
In a sad commentary on the role of women in society, a team that has not lost a game since 2008, not enough to have national attention. Finally, the guys had last night beat, against a record of 88 set by winning men's basketball team at UCLA. Good for her. And good for Moore, a senior forward who led throughout, scoring 41 points against Florida State last night.
But we can give credit where credit is due? These women are not the overnight sensation.
Also on the campus in Storrs, Connecticut women's basketball has been the poor cousin of the red head. Has a degree in 2010, "We come from the University of Connecticut and was a school basketball team's dominant male, then began to suck on, and while the women's team began their series victory -.. We just kind of turn on the cold shoulder "
It is not that Moore as the best player in program history at the University of Connecticut, perhaps the best basketball player of all women speaks. It was enough that she helped the Huskies women's team captured its second national championship. Coach Geno Auriemma has sought to fight cancer with "Geno's Cancer Team" button to the attention of both his cause and his team, "said the young graduate." The fans kind of get from hard double winning team of women and money for charitable purposes by the active participation of students. "
Again found a man to get and people notice. A man coaching team basketball women, but a man anyway.
But what the men in the sport done for us lately? We visited Cam Newton scandal Auburn Heisman winner. We show Jets assistant coach Sal Alosa that never grow out of their third year of the car, shooting a Dolphins player on the sideline. We are in Florida schoolboy Mason Hollandphysically attack on a referee in a basketball game. You have brought shame on himself and disgrace to the sport.
None of us do not want our daughters to strive for, know that none of us want our children to aspire to that.
And then there's Maya Moore. No scandals. Only hard work is the second player in history, the Naismith National College Player of the Year after winning two seasons of juniors and seniors preparing to celebrate 2000 as the first junior development at the University of Connecticut. She had even remind the class to the media that this is not told reporters yesterday after the game:
What I am pleased that my colleagues enjoy myself, and I want to see - I feel as if he really supports me and loves me and what I take from this game.
It is not fair model for our daughters, but for the sport in general. It is a shame when people do not follow.
