Barney Miller's Dies AT 65

The actor and former stand-up veteran actor Steve Landesberg, is perhaps best for her role as Detective intellectual in the 1970s sitcom Barney Miller police known, died at the age of 65.

    Landesberg died on Monday after his agent, Jeffrey Leavitt. No cause of death was given, but U.S. media reported that he had been fighting cancer.

    "It was a wonderful actor and a great comic who gave so much of himself in every performance, " said Shirley Jones, with the state mining in the television series The Cleaner was released in 2009.

    A New Yorker born in 1945, state mining shot to fame as part of the stand-up scene of the city in the 1970s, with contemporaries such as Jimmy Walker and Freddie Prinze.

    In 1975, he received perhaps his most successful roles are considered: Detective Arthur Dietrich, quiet, know-it-all police in the middle of an area of Greenwich Village, full of eccentric New York police show Barney Miller. He remained with the series until its end in 1982.

    Then he became a familiar face on television, with curly hair, glasses actors appear in shows like The Rockford Files, Cosby, Golden Girls, Law and Order, Seinfeld, Everybody Hates Chris and The Ghost Whisperer.

    His most recent roles were as a pediatrician in the comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall 2008, his performance as a therapist in the improvised comedy series Head Case and an appearance in the drama The Cleaner (portrayed Jones and Landesberg married to an alcoholic partner law nightclubs.)

    "Working with Steve was honored both personally and professionally. My heart goes out to his family. We will miss him, " Leavitt said in a statement.
